Finding a Plumbing job

look in the paper no job find a job need help finding a job

Finding work as a plumber is very difficult at the moment. There has been a lot of cuts in social housing budgets causing The amount of contracts for bathroom and boiler renovations to be shelved. The effect this has had on the marketplace has been immense, with large firms going to the wall. The Result of this is that plumbing jobs and apprentice positions are becoming harder than ever to find and when you do find one they expect you to have full qualifications and be prepared to work for less and less. This are will help you to find where to target jobs, find experience and write a great CV.

MAKE THE MOST OF THE INTERNET…

1 - Get on to a few good jobsites, there are many to choose from and these guys will make a commission if you find a job so they put in some of the hard work for you. It is quite often that you will see the same job advertised on many job sites so you only need to join one or two to see the majority of jobs.

2 - Check sites like www.gumtree.com and other web pages that offer employment, also place adverts on sites like www.vivastreet.co.uk to advertise exactly what work you are looking for. I.e. if you want to be a plumber’s mate make one looking for this work.

3 - Sign up for a Twitter account or write a blog about your chosen field or specialisation. If you are just starting out you can write about the trials of finding work or experience. If you are a seasoned professional you can give hints and tips that others may find useful and you can link plumbing related news stories. It may seem like a lot of work, which it is, if it makes you no network links then the very least you will get from it is something to parade to potential employers showing your enthusiasm and positive work ethic. Twitter.com and blogger.com can be set up in minutes and both are free.

4 - Lose your silly looking e-mail address; johnnybigknob69@slipitin.com might not get you taken seriously. A simple one that is just your name will be much more appealing. It’s not a major issue but it may be enough to sway your potential employer if there are two candidates with similar experience and qualifications, then your attitude and demeanour will make the difference.

5 - Use all the e-mail addresses you can find for plumbing companies in your area, store them as a seperate list in your account and once a month send an e-mail detailing what you are looking for and your contact details. E-mail addresses can be found by putting a query into a search engine and your postcode for example Plumber BR1, then visit the site to find the e-mail. Directories are also good, look in Yellow Pages, Thompson local, etc.

6 - In the same way you found the e-mail addresses you can also target Plumbers mobile numbers. All Plumbers advertising will have their number , make a group on your phone so you can send a collective text to all of them. If you have a phone plan with unlimited texts this is a very cheap way of getting seen.
